Most fragrance advice ignores the one thing that matters: context. The cologne that turns heads at a bar can get you side-eye in a Monday meeting. The fresh scent that disappears politely at the office is a waste of money on a date. Same fragrance, different situation, completely different result.
That’s the whole idea behind Scent Situations: fragrances reviewed for the moments you’ll actually wear them — the office, date nights, the gym, the outdoors, and everything in between.
How I test
Every fragrance recommended here gets worn in the real situation, on skin, usually more than once. I test with decants and travel sizes (which is also how I’d suggest you try most things before buying a full bottle), apply a standard two sprays, and score every scent on the same four-point rubric: projection, longevity, versatility, and value. If I haven’t worn it, I don’t recommend it.
What you can expect
Honest verdicts, including the negative ones — some popular fragrances simply aren’t worth your money, and I’ll say so. When a cheap clone gets 90% of the way to a designer scent, you’ll hear about it. When it doesn’t, you’ll hear that too.
