📊 Community Research Pick · All scores in this guide are derived from aggregated community data. See our methodology.
Kayali Vanilla 28 became the vanilla fragrance of the decade for a simple reason: it smells like brown sugar over a rum base, and that combination works on almost everyone. On Fragrantica it holds 11,961 votes at 4.15/5, and 1,836 of the 5,722 voters on price mark it “overpriced” or “way overpriced.” The other complaint is staying power. Three separate Reddit threads asking for the best dupes for Kayali Vanilla 28 all open the same way: it doesn’t last.
That gap built an entire clone market. Dubai-based houses like Fragrance World, Paris Corner, Gulf Orchid, Zimaya, and Maison Asrar released their own versions between 2023 and 2025, most of them under $40 for 100ml. This guide covers the 3 best dupes for Kayali Vanilla 28, picked from real Fragrantica community data rather than a blog list repeating the same names, and the answer comes straight from people who already own the original. It is the second guide in our women’s-focused Perfumes cluster, after the best perfumes for women’s job interviews.
Instead of guessing, we used the “This perfume reminds me of” section on the Vanilla 28 Fragrantica page, where the community votes whether each suggested perfume actually resembles the original. That section holds 3,970 votes across 20 perfumes. We cross-checked it against each candidate’s own page (rating, longevity and projection votes, pros and cons) and against 364 member reviews, 145 of which name Vanilla 28 directly. Twelve Reddit threads round out the picture. Six perfumes made the final round; three are the picks below, and the other three are described right after them, with the reason for the cut, so you can decide for yourself.
The rule we used: a Vanilla 28 dupe only earns a spot if it fixes the original’s biggest flaw, its staying power, without losing the brown-sugar signature. Two of the three picks do that. The third nails the scent and stops there.

Why only three
Fragrantica’s own similarity list runs to 20 perfumes. The first cut removed the ones the community rejected (Victoria’s Secret Bare Vanilla collected 666 “doesn’t resemble it” votes against 424 “yes”), the ones without US availability (Le Couvent Cologne of the Missions), the ones priced close to the original (Majouri Imperial Vanilla), and anything under 150 votes on its own page. A small sample makes any longevity number a guess.
That left six finalists. The three picks above have, at the same time, the highest “resembles Vanilla 28” agreement rate, the largest vote samples (272 to 566 each), and a clear answer to a different question: scent accuracy, scent accuracy with projection, and staying power. The other three, Zimaya Ramsh Diva, Maison Asrar Vanilla Seduction, and Mercedes-Benz Club Black, lost their spot to a small sample, inconsistent performance, or too much distance from the actual scent. They’re still reasonable buys for specific readers, and each gets its own writeup in “The Three That Almost Made It.”
Four names that show up in nearly every Vanilla 28 dupe list on the internet don’t appear anywhere in this article as a recommendation: Zara Supreme Vanilla, Lattafa Khamrah, Dossier Woody Vanilla, and Bare Vanilla. Each one gets its own explanation in “What to Avoid.” The method is the same one we used for our Creed Aventus dupes and Baccarat Rouge 540 dupes guides: real Fragrantica vote data first, marketing copy never. Our Coco Mademoiselle dupes guide uses that method too.

The most upvoted pros on Fragrantica are “classy brown sugar notes” (1,100 agree) and “boozy, warm, intoxicating” (1,000). The top con is “overhyped by TikTok” (945 against 571), followed by “lacks the expected syrupy cake sweetness” (563 against 460). That matters for picking a dupe: Vanilla 28 is less of a bakery scent than its reputation suggests, and the closest clones follow the same rule. If you want cupcake-level sweetness, Eshal Vanilla is the sweetest of the three below.
One practical warning straight from the page: 184 people confirm it stains light clothing. Several dupes inherit the same dark liquid. The seasonal votes skew heavily toward winter and fall, the same window covered in our best winter colognes guide.
How this list was built
Every perfume below gets a Community Score from 0 to 10, built from the seven criteria in our methodology and fed entirely by Fragrantica votes. That covers the overall rating, the “resembles Vanilla 28” agreement rate on the similarity section, longevity and projection votes, value-for-money votes, seasonal spread (versatility), and how many notes the perfume has that the original doesn’t (originality). The quotes in the “What wearers say” boxes come from Fragrantica member reviews posted between 2025 and September 2026 and from Reddit comments, all from people who say they own the original for comparison.
1. Fragrance World Elysia Vanilla — The Note-for-Note Clone
Answers the question: “Is there a perfume with the exact same notes as Vanilla 28?”
There is, and the community knows it. Elysia Vanilla, released by Fragrance World in 2023, carries the identical Fragrantica pyramid to Vanilla 28: vanilla orchid and jasmine on top, brown sugar and tonka bean in the heart, amber, amberwood, musk, and patchouli in the base. The accords line up in almost the same order. On the similarity list, it ranks first by proportion: 239 “resembles it” votes against 15 “doesn’t,” a 94% agreement rate. Its own rating is 4.31 from 468 votes, higher than the original’s.
- Top: Vanilla Orchid, Jasmine
- Heart: Brown Sugar, Tonka Bean
- Base: Amber, Amberwood, Musk, Patchouli
What wearers say: One reviewer created a Fragrantica account specifically to write it: “I read everyone saying it’s an exact copy and had to test for myself. It’s exactly the same. Initial spritz was just a minty musk, three minutes later there’s Vanilla 28.” A reviewer who owns the original is more careful: “not 1:1, but very close; boozy alcohol opening that fades fast; my complaint is the longevity.” Another describes the same arc several people report: “smelled like shaving cream at first, let the bottle sit for two months and it turned into a rich, cozy vanilla.” The line that repeats most is about performance: “body spray performance,” “great for layering,” “if I’d paid Kayali prices I’d be mad.”
📊 Community Score: 7.5 / 10
Research confidence: High · Sources: Fragrantica page with 468 votes · 80 member reviews read (52 name Vanilla 28) · 254 similarity votes · pro “accurate Kayali Vanilla 28 dupe” 27 to 3
What it replicates: the scent. Past the first minutes, it’s the drydown the community most consistently recognizes as accurate, with 87% of price voters marking “good value” or “great value.”
What it loses: the opening and the staying power. The top con is “harsh, alcoholic initial spray” (24 to 10), and only 38% of its 256 longevity voters mark “long lasting” or better. Several users say it improves after weeks with the bottle open. If you want the same scent lasting longer, the next two fix that.
Price: ~$20 to $35 for 100ml EDP, depending on the retailer. We couldn’t find a US Amazon listing for Elysia Vanilla itself (only the flanker scents, Vanilla Sugar, Marshmallow, Apple Rouge); it turns up at Middle Eastern fragrance retailers and on eBay.
2. Gulf Orchid Vanilla Addiction — The Clone With the Most Agreement
Answers the question: “Which dupe has the largest share of people saying it’s a match?”
By proportion, this one. On the Vanilla 28 page, 125 people voted that Vanilla Addiction resembles the original and only 4 disagreed, a 97% agreement rate. It’s a 2025 release with 272 votes and a 4.37 rating, the highest of the three. Gulf Orchid is a lesser-known Emirati house than Lattafa, and the bottle mimics the original’s shape.
- Top (as listed on Fragrantica): Lavender, Coconut
- Heart: Tonka Bean, Jasmine, Rose
- Base: Vanilla, Amber, Patchouli
The listed pyramid barely resembles Vanilla 28’s, and none of the reviews mention lavender or coconut. The community-voted accords tell a different story: vanilla, amber, sweet, powdery, and patchouli, the same order as the original. This is a case where the noses reviewing it matter more than the printed notes. Of the 48 reviews we read, 27 name Vanilla 28 directly, and the tone is the most assertive of the whole research.
What wearers say: “I own the original, and believe me: it’s 100% the same thing in a slightly different bottle, for a fraction of the price. I can’t believe this is legal.” A reviewer who has tested six Vanilla 28 “inspirations” gives the technical read: “it’s the most faithful of all; less sweet, drier and more bitter than the other dupes, with the patchouli more present.” On performance, the recurring line is “same, but stronger and longer lasting.” One user who owns both says they “barely reach for Vanilla 28 anymore: Vanilla Addiction projects better and the ingredients feel more natural.” Another review, from September 2026, says it “knocked Vanilla Seduction off the pedestal.”
📊 Community Score: 7.9 / 10
Research confidence: Medium · Sources: Fragrantica page with 272 votes · 48 member reviews (27 name Vanilla 28) · 129 similarity votes
What it replicates: the brown sugar, the rum-like base, and the patchouli, with a bit more projection: 37% of its 109 sillage voters mark “strong” or “enormous,” against 21% on the original.
What it loses: some sweetness and the opening jasmine, which here only shows up in the heart. The sample is still small (272 votes against 11,961), which keeps the score below what the reviews alone would suggest.

3. Paris Corner Eshal Vanilla — The One That Lasts All Day
Answers the question: “I want the Vanilla 28 scent, but still there at six in the evening.”
This is the dupe that fixes the original’s number one complaint. Of Eshal Vanilla’s 322 longevity votes, 59% mark “long lasting” or “eternal” (28% on Vanilla 28), and only 9% mark “weak” or worse. On projection, 47% mark “strong” or “enormous,” more than double the original. It’s a 2025 release with 566 votes, a 4.24 rating, and 137 reviews, the most discussed clone in this whole research. On the Vanilla 28 page, 218 people voted that it resembles the original and 33 disagreed.
- Top: Sugar, Sweet Notes
- Heart: Rose, Jasmine
- Base: Vanilla, Musk, Caramel
The listed pyramid reads like a bakery scent, and one of the more useful reviews warns that this is misleading: “if you blind-bought this expecting a frosting-topped vanilla, you were probably disappointed; the Vanilla 28 DNA is a vanilla perfume, not a glaze body mist.”
What wearers say: “If you like Vanilla 28, this is a pretty spot-on dupe. Lasts a long time, beautiful bottle, comes with a scarf. Sugary vanilla, but on the mature side.” The top pro after price is “enormous, beast-mode sillage” (51 to 5), and an August 2026 review sums it up: “this is a BEAST MODE fragrance, you can smell it just off the cap.” The other side shows up in the cons: “usually needs maceration” (31 to 12), “very mature profile” (24 to 13), and, for some noses, “a nauseating musk in the drydown” (12 to 19).
📊 Community Score: 7.8 / 10
Research confidence: High · Sources: Fragrantica page with 566 votes · 80 member reviews read (32 name Vanilla 28) · 251 similarity votes
What it replicates: the brown sugar and the mature vanilla, with Middle Eastern EDP performance: stronger and longer than the original.
What it loses: a bit of opening accuracy, which runs sweeter and rosier, and discretion. Two sprays are plenty for an office or any closed room.

The three that almost made it
These three reached the final round with real data behind them and lost their spot for one reason each. If your situation matches the one described, any of them could be the right call for you.
Zimaya Ramsh Diva — The Lightest Option, at ~$26
Why it didn’t make the cut: sample size. Its 173 Fragrantica votes are the smallest of the six finalists, and the top con on its page, with no votes against it, is blunt: “not a 1:1 clone of Vanilla 28.” People who own both describe it as “less body,” “more floral,” and “sweeter, less dark.” It scores 7.6, with 98 “resembles it” votes against 15.
Who it still works for: anyone who wants the DNA in a lighter, cheaper daytime version. It’s the finalist with the largest share of spring and summer votes, and Zimaya is Afnan’s younger line, the house behind 9PM. Reviews describe it starting weak and building body over two months of maceration; one user measured “about 90% of the original” after that. Longevity is middling (48% of its 89 voters mark “long lasting” or better), with reviews on both ends.
Price: ~$26 for 100ml EDP, the cheapest of the six · Check price on Amazon, shipped by Amazon.
Maison Asrar Vanilla Seduction — The Plum Drydown, at ~$36
Why it didn’t make the cut: inconsistent performance. Only 30% of its 79 longevity voters mark “long lasting” or better, and the reviews contradict each other: “I can’t tell this apart from Vanilla 28, I own both, this one might last longer” against “this is the weakest Vanilla 28 dupe I own, it doesn’t project enough.” At 189 votes, the sample still isn’t large enough to settle it. It scores 7.5, with 66 “resembles it” votes against 14.
Who it still works for: anyone who likes Vanilla 28 and wanted the drydown a shade darker and fruitier. Maison Asrar kept the same base (tonka, amber, patchouli, musk) and swapped in plum, jasmine, and lily of the valley on top, with caramel added to the brown sugar heart. The top pro is “stronger, darker alternative to Vanilla 28” (16 to 1); the top con warns that “the plum is often undetectable” (13 to 4). People who compared the two on skin describe the same identity after the first hour.
Price: ~$36 for 100ml EDP · Check price on Amazon, shipped by Amazon.
Mercedes-Benz Club Black EDT — The Men’s Take, With Incense, at ~$53
Why it didn’t make the cut: a divided similarity vote. It’s the perfume with the highest raw vote count on the Vanilla 28 similarity page, 282 in favor, and also the most contested, 191 against: four in ten disagree. It swaps the brown sugar for incense and the sweet jasmine for bergamot, and its own gender votes run heavily male (1,900 “more male,” 1,400 “unisex,” 1,100 “male,” 86 “female”). It scores 7.1, the lowest of the six, despite the best overall rating.
Who it still works for: men who like Vanilla 28 on someone else and want something in that direction, and anyone who prefers the mood over the copy. It’s a 2017 designer release by Olivier Cresp, with 6,540 votes and a 4.48 rating, the highest in this whole research, and the longest-lasting of the six: 62% of its 4,408 voters mark “long lasting” or “eternal.” In a r/fragranceclones thread, one user put it this way: “if you want an idea of Club Black, go try Kayali Vanilla 28 at Sephora; it’s kind of a masculine take on that.” On Fragrantica, the top pros are the highest-voted of the whole research: “great value” (890 to 24), “long-lasting” (673 to 74), “warm and cozy for winter” (625 to 14). The main con is for anyone who doesn’t like vanilla at all (676 to 51), followed by “simple, linear” (440 to 154).
Price: ~$53 for 100ml EDT; a 2025 EDP version runs around $70 · Check price on Amazon.
What to avoid
Four names show up on almost every Vanilla 28 dupe list, and none of them held up under the data.
- Victoria’s Secret Bare Vanilla. It’s the perfume most often suggested as a match on the Vanilla 28 page, and the most rejected: 424 “resembles it” votes against 666 “doesn’t.” It’s a soft, clean vanilla body mist with cashmeran, no brown sugar and no patchouli, and half of its 3,526 longevity voters mark “weak” or “very weak.” A good bedtime scent, a different perfume entirely.
- Zara Supreme Vanilla. It tops most blog lists and doesn’t appear on Vanilla 28’s own similarity list; its list opens with Zara Sweet Illusion instead. The notes (Madagascar vanilla, ink, sugar, tonka, cedar) point to a darker vanilla with an ink accord, “dark academia” in its own fans’ words. A r/FemFragLab user who owns both summed it up: she thought it was inspired by Vanilla 28, but “I don’t think it’s similar, they’re just in the same sugary-vanilla category.”
- Lattafa Khamrah. The other viral boozy vanilla, which is why it keeps landing on the same lists. Its pyramid is different (cinnamon, nutmeg, dates, praline), and it doesn’t appear on Vanilla 28’s similarity list. In the r/fragrance thread asking if the two are alike, the answer is that Khamrah “reminds me more of Valentino Born in Roma Donna Intense, much sweeter and less boozy.” It deserves its own article, and it’s getting one.
- Dossier Woody Vanilla. Dossier markets it as “inspired by Kayali’s Vanilla 28,” and the paper pyramid matches. But it carries a single Fragrantica vote as of September 2026, with no longevity votes or reviews comparing it to the original. We’ll revisit it once there’s data.
Two discontinued perfumes turn up in older Reddit threads, Michael Kors Midnight Shimmer and Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon. Only worth it at clearance prices.

Frequently asked questions
Which is the closest dupe to Kayali Vanilla 28?
By the votes, Gulf Orchid Vanilla Addiction (125 “resembles it” against 4 “doesn’t”) and Fragrance World Elysia Vanilla (239 against 15). Elysia has the identical pyramid, note for note, and gets the most “exactly the same” comments in reviews; Vanilla Addiction gets equally emphatic reviews and projects more. If scent alone is the criterion, either works. If scent and performance both matter, Vanilla Addiction.
Which Vanilla 28 dupe lasts the longest?
Paris Corner Eshal Vanilla among the three picks: 59% of voters mark “long lasting” or “eternal,” against 28% on the original. Among all six finalists, Mercedes-Benz Club Black, at 62%, but it moves further away from the actual scent and landed among the runners-up.
Why is Club Black, with the highest rating of all six, not one of the three picks?
Because the main list answers “what smells like Vanilla 28,” and on that question the community itself is split: 282 “resembles it” votes against 191 “doesn’t.” The 4.48 rating, the longevity, and the price are real arguments, which is why it’s covered in full among the runners-up, for anyone who wants the mood of Vanilla 28 in a men’s fragrance.
Do these dupes need to sit before wearing?
The reviews say yes, for nearly all of them. Elysia Vanilla, Eshal Vanilla, Ramsh Diva, and Vanilla Seduction all have reviews describing a boozy, alcoholic, or “shaving cream” opening that fades after weeks with the bottle open and stored in the dark. It’s the same advice Zara Supreme Vanilla fans give on Reddit. Don’t judge any of them on day one.
What about Le Couvent Cologne of the Missions and Majouri Imperial Vanilla?
Both sit on Vanilla 28’s similarity list (176 to 102 and 80 to 36) and both are solid vanilla perfumes, rated 4.4 and 4.31. They missed this list on price and access: Le Couvent has no US Amazon listing and shows up through discontinued-stock resellers, and Majouri is a niche house, with reviews calling it “more sophisticated and understated than Vanilla 28” and a literal con of “redundant if you already own Vanilla 28.” If you want to trade up instead of saving money, those are the two to look at.
Is Vanilla 28 still worth it after seeing the dupes?
Depends what bothers you about it. If it’s the longevity, two of the picks above fix that for a quarter of the price. If it’s the scent itself, people who own the original and Elysia or Vanilla Addiction side by side say the difference fades after the first hour. What the original still has that’s genuinely its own: the bottle, a more polished opening, and the name.
The verdict
The main bet is Gulf Orchid Vanilla Addiction: the community’s highest “it’s the same” rate, the best rating of the three, and reviews from people who own the original saying they’ve mostly stopped reaching for it. At ~$34, it’s the purchase that answers the question in the title.
The value runner-up is Paris Corner Eshal Vanilla, the only one that attacks the original’s real flaw head-on: it lasts twice as long, projects twice as far, and costs ~$40 with the box and scarf included. If Vanilla 28 used to vanish off your wrist before lunch, start here.
The wild card is Fragrance World Elysia Vanilla, the note-for-note clone. It reproduces the scent better than it holds onto it, which makes it the best buy for anyone using Vanilla 28 in layering, or who just wants the drydown for ~$30 without asking it to carry the whole day alone.
If none of the three fit, the runners-up cover the leftover cases: Ramsh Diva for lightness and the lowest price, Vanilla Seduction for a plum-tinted drydown, and Club Black for men who want the same dark vanilla with incense.
And if, after all this, you still want the actual Kayali Vanilla 28, no judgment here, some of us just have money to burn. The standalone 50ml bottle runs ~$105 on Amazon.
